Position Overview:

The Vegetation Management Site Manager serves as the interface between clients and company field staff for vegetation management of native restoration areas at residential, commercial and/or public sites. The Site Manager is responsible for meeting with clients, creating quotes, planning, scheduling, conducting and/or overseeing work on their sites, and tracking all site work. Evaluates native plant communities and prescribes appropriate vegetation management/enhancement practices to achieve client goals. MNL does allow this position the ability to work under a hybrid workplace model, where time can be split between remote and an in-office setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages client projects and expectations.
  • Understands each client's contractual terms and meets their needs.
  • Coordinates with company staff to conduct work, while maintaining company operating standards.
  • Tracks, records and accurately summarizes completed work.
  • Maintains a basic understanding of the company's vegetation management pricing and provides quotes.
  • Oversees, directs, and trains vegetation management crew leaders and technicians.
  • Conducts site evaluations and meet with current and potential clients.
  • Maintains daily communication with staff, existing clients, and potential clients.
  • Identifies opportunities to apply company goods and services to clients beyond existing projects.
  • Understand the concepts and able to conduct vegetation management practices, such as herbicide applications, weed whipping, hand weeding, etc.
  • Performs vegetation management field work including, herbicide applications, weed whipping, brush cutting, hand weeding, etc
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Ecology, Biology, Wildlife Management, Botany, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in native vegetation management, including herbicide handling and application, as well as experience with native and invasive species plant identification.
  • 1+ years of strong leadership experience leading teams or crews.
  • Strong plant identification skills.
  • Knowledge of computers including spreadsheet, word processing skills, etc. Experience using Microsoft Office 365 a plus.
  • Organized mindset with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including polished professional email and phone communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pesticide applicator training, licensing, and experience.
  • Experience in operating a chainsaw safely for felling and/or bucking.
  • Experience with operating farm and other equipment, trucks, trailers, and ATVs, along with basic equipment maintenance and repair.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Desire to contribute to the growth of Vegetation Management and to the company's "10/20/30" goal.
  • Must have a valid MN driver's license along with an insurable driving record.
  • Must have, or be willing to acquire, a commercial pesticide applicator license.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation for site visits.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach, and move as needed to complete various physical vegetation management duties.
  • This job may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain.
  • Flexible business hours Monday - Friday based on projects and crews. Time subject to change based on work/project needs; hours of work may include some early morning and evenings.
  • Able to travel daily to various worksites with rare overnight travel.
  • Must be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
