Position Overview:
MNL, a leader in ecological restoration, has an opening for a Field Technician to work for our Construction Department based out of our Glyndon, MN location. The Field Technician is responsible for providing operator and field assistance on small to large scale ecological restoration projects throughout western Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas. You will work with the direction and guidance of MNL Forman to help execute processes and procedures from restoration plans. Requires strong communication skills to ensure safe and accurate project completion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts all tasks involved with successfully installing and managing small to large scale restoration projects, including but not limited to site preparation, seeding, planting, erosion control installation, and equipment operation.
- Routinely operating truck and trailer combinations under 26,000 lbs. To include loading/securing loads, pre-trip checks, and maintaining logbook. CDL is a plus and will allow for high pay increases.
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as agricultural tractors and skid loaders with all attachments.
- Provide onsite field labor for restoration and management activities
- Safely and efficiently utilized basic tools such as weed whips, powered augers, hand tools, etc.
- Safely and efficiently complete a variety of restoration duties, utilizing various types of small equipment such as, chainsaws, pumps, GPS, mowers, ATV/UTVs, etc.
- Provide onsite leadership and crew guidance when charged
- Maintains work records and associated paperwork, including daily worklogs.
- Leader in morning preparation of equipment and supplies needed for the day
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in landscaping, agriculture, or construction.
- Knowledge and experience using landscaping and agricultural equipment with implements.
- Knowledge in one or more forms of ecological restoration or construction related work
- Have or be willing to acquire (with company assistance) pesticide applicators license MN & ND.
- Maintains DOT health certificate
- If interested, acquire (with company assistance), a class A CDL driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements
- A degree in Ecology, Biology, Wildlife Management, Botany, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, or related fields is a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach, and move as needed in order to complete various vegetation management duties.
- Prolonged periods of time standing.
- Able to work long hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Able to travel daily to various worksites within area of operations with overnight stay potential. Travel costs paid for by MNL.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
